How Reading and Writing in Inquiry 1 helped learning...
For Inquiry 1 we chose poetry to read, analyze, and write about. I chose a set of poetry called Four Poems for Robin by Gary Snyder. I love reading and analyzing poetry, trying to find meaning in something someone wrote. I also like looking up critical analysis of each poem and expanding on the points made by the author critiquing the work itself. I find that by reading what other people write about a work I can form my own opinion based on both perspectives. Likewise, I learned what to look for in poetry to find meaning and themes. For example, diction, or work choice, can help you pick out the tone of the poem. Reading poetry helped me to understand that you have to look for certain things while reading to truly understand the writer's message. Writing about different aspects of the poetry that I had analyzed helped me to organize my thoughts cohesively in a paper.
